Artist’s Statement.

“I am an artist because I thrive on telling stories visually and I can’t see myself doing anything else.I want to be drawing, modeling, animating, filming, and creating everything I can.  I am inspired by those who came before; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and the other great masters. People who want to shape what they saw into works of art. Further inspiration comes from modern artists like Ralph Mcquarrie, Ein Lee, and Alan Lee. Some of the most influential concept artists of our day.
Lastly I am inspired by my dad; Paul Honermann, who works as a scientific illustrator at the Mayo Clinic. He’s always been standing behind me, pushing me to improve.

The most common source I turn to is my own imagination. I think visually and try to translate what I see in my mind into physical form. The source of inspiration for most of my pieces comes from a question I ask myself: Can I? Can I write that story? Can I draw that still life as best I can? Can I translate what’s in my head into something that’s on the page or screen? I intend to reach the point where the answer to all these questions is yes.

My intended audience for my work is everyone I can reach. That may seem broad, but I my work to reach as many people as it can. If I can impact just one or two of these people with my work, I will count my work as a success.

An artistic vision of my future I have is working for Dreamworks or Pixar Animation Studios. These two studios seem to be the best places for fledgling and experienced animators alike. I would consider myself lucky to work at either.”
